Winter riding blues

There is honestly not much to report on lately, as I haven’t been able to ride in quite some time.   The weather is supposed to be in the high forties to low fifties this weekend, so I’m hoping to be able to get a ride in.   I’d like to crank out about 20 mile at the very least, but I only need 8 miles to take me over the 900 mile mark for the year.

In other news, I had a decent lunchtime workout on the cross trainer today.   30 minutes of intervals.

Major Mileage Milestone Today

603 miles after my 10.5 mile lunchtime ride today.   Thus far my longest ride is 37 miles, and my average ride is 14 miles.   I’ve ridden 43 rides since January.   My total mileage for last year was 496 miles, so I think I’m on my way to getting close to 1,000 miles for the year.   Hopefully I’ll be able to crank out some miles this weekend.

It’s been a while

Yes, this was yet another one of those dead blogs, but I’m attempting to bring it back.   However, maybe the reason I haven’t been blogging is because I’ve been too busy losing weight.   With going to the gym, eating right, and riding my bike, I am now down to 199.8 pounds.   I achieved my goal of getting to 200 pounds by my birthday.   It wasn’t easy, as it took me 6.5 months to lose 22 pounds, but I know I did it right and I’m pretty sure I can keep the weight off.

As far as future goals go, I’d like to lose another 10 pounds by the end of 2008.     I think it’s doable, but for the time being I’ve been stalled around 200 for quite some time.   I imagine I need to add in more weights pretty soon, but I’ve been having too much fun riding my bike.   To date I have ridden 592 miles, mostly on the road.   My legs are in great shape, and I’d like to find a way to get 1,000 total miles in before the close of 2008.   With two kids and another one due in October, this might be a challenge.   But whatever my total mileage winds up being for the year, I’m sure to make the most of every mile.

First post

This is my first post to this blog.   While I have several other blogs for personal and professional purposes, I didn’t have a place to log my cycling rides and workouts.   This blog is for this purpose.   With winter coming on in Southeastern Ohio, I may not be able to get on the bike as much as I would like, I’ll still post about the few rides that I am able to go on.   Also, since training during the off season is a vital part of cycling, I’ll be logging my gym workouts here as well.
